Flavors and reading captivate Antofagasta in a new cultural event

Flavors and reading captivated Antofagasta in a new cultural event. The third edition of “Ruta de Sabores por Descubrir” once again brought together the Antofagasta community in an experience that combined local gastronomy and reading promotion, turning the northern city into a meeting point between tradition and creativity.

The activity, promoted by Sernatur Antofagasta and the Regional Ministry of Cultures, highlighted ingredients and recipes from the coast, the pampas, and the highlands, integrating them with the national campaign “Me Encanta Leer” (I Love Reading). Students from institutions such as AIEP, INACAP, Santo Tomás, and technical high schools presented preparations inspired by regional recipe books, reinforcing the idea that identity is also transmitted through taste.

Authorities emphasized the cultural and tourism impact of the initiative. The Regional Ministry of Cultures underlined the importance of bringing reading closer through new experiences, while Sernatur highlighted how gastronomy allows visitors and residents to connect with the history of the territory.

“We are proud to strengthen our Book Month through gastronomy. Here we present recipes captured in books that focus on our three geographical areas, promoting access to reading in a different way,” said the Regional Minister of Cultures, Paula Rodríguez.

The event included tastings, reading mediation, and artistic performances, including traditional cuecas and a musical closing by Gianinna Mutarello and Iván el Campesino. With this edition, Ruta de Sabores consolidates itself as a space that celebrates the region’s intangible heritage and promotes knowledge through the senses.
